That one’s out. Titles are some of the most important parts of any wrestling promotion as they help identify the top stars in any company. That is something that can go in a wide variety of directions as there can be quite a few titles in any given wrestling company. On rare occasions you will see a title taken away, which was the situation again this week in a rather heartwarming way.

This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite took place in New York City as part of the special Grand Slam events. During the show, Hook retained the FTW Title by defeating Roderick Strong. Following the match, Hook announced that he was retiring the title and returned it to his father Taz, who originally introduced the title in the original ECW. The title was not officially recognized by AEW and was considered an outlaw championship.

Opinion: This is a good move for AEW, as the promotion has far too many titles floating around. Hook got something out of his time as champion and now he is ready to move on. That should make for something interesting for him, assuming that AEW follows up on what Hook has already done. Hook has seemed to be a good prospect, and now we get to see where he can go next.
