I’d say she’s worthy of some recognition. The Women’s Revolution has changed everything throughout wrestling and become one of the most important milestones in years. That is the kind of thing that the women’s division has needed for a long time now. The women are no longer seen as jokes and that means things are getting better. However, things were set up far between the Women’s Revolution and now someone is getting the recognition that they deserve.

If you listen to a lot of modern female wrestlers, a good chunk of them are going to tell you that they were inspired by Trish Stratus (or Lita). While her accomplishments has been surpassed, she was one of the only (though not the only) female wrestlers who was a more serious performer. That’s the kind of thing that deserves some attention and now she is receiving it.

As announced on her official website, Stratus will receive the Lou Thesz Award from the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be taking place this July in Waterloo, Iowa, with Stratus also being inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2020. Stratus will be the first woman to receive the award, which has been won by names such as Jim Ross, Booker T. and Edge, among several others.

Stratus has won some titles before. Check out some of her best moments:

Opinion: I’d think it’s safe to say that she has earned this kind of honor. Stratus is the definition of a trailblazer and someone who deserves to be treated as the legend that she is. She is someone who inspired a generation and really was the first of her kind. This is long overdue and she should be remembered as the current generation of women gets to heights no one would have ever believed possible.
