Open season. There are several talented stars in the wrestling world and a good many of them work for one of the two biggest wrestling promotions. However, occasionally some of them will become free agents, which can allow wrestlers to see what they can do in another promotion. That is the case again, as a prominent AEW star is now officially done with his contract and in the free agent field.

According to Fightful Select, Penta El Zero Miedo’s AEW contract has officially expired, meaning that he can sign with any promotion he likes. It is believed that Penta is wanted for a variety of independent shows going forward, though it is not clear where he will sign next. At the same time, his brother Rey Fenix is still under contract to AEW, even though the company has no creative plans for him at the moment.

Opinion: This is one of the pieces that needed to fall for the Lucha Bros to get away from AEW, which seems to be what both of them want to do. AEW hasn’t been using them in any way so hopefully Fenix can eventually get out of his deal as well, as he is wasting away in the company. For now though, Penta is going to be going somewhere, and that could make for some interesting situations.
