Oh No: NXT Star To Miss 8-12 Months With Back Injury, Title Match Changed As A Result

See you later. Injuries can be devastating for a wrestler, as you never know when you are going to see someone put on the shelf for a very long time. Someone can get hurt and have anything they are doing shut down immediately. That means a change needs to be made and now we are seeing that again, with quite a few people being involved in the new plans.

Last week, Wes Lee won a four way match to become the new #1 contender for the NXT North American Title. However, this week Lee revealed that he needs back surgery, which will leave him out of action for eight to twelve months. As a result, Lee’s North American Title shot against Dominik Mysterio at Deadline is canceled. Instead, Mysterio’s father Rey Mysterio announced that Dragon Lee will get the shot in Lee’s place, with Rey in Lee’s corner.

Opinion: That’s terrible to hear as you never want to see someone get hurt, especially with that much recovery time. Lee has turned into one of the better stars in NXT and it is a shame to see him having to be on the shelf for so long. Lee getting the title shot is a nice replacement, but there is only so much that can be done to overcome that much of a horrible announcement.
