The new generation. We are fresh off WrestleMania 37 and that means it is time to start getting things ready on the unofficial new season of WWE. That makes for some very interesting changes, as WWE starts showing off their new plans. Some of these changes are not even in the ring, with the Monday Night Raw commentary team seeing a big shakeup this week. Now SmackDown is following suit.

Every now and then, you find someone who is a complete natural in the wrestling business. They might come from the entertainment field in the first place or even somewhere else, but there is something about them that makes you pay attention in a hurry. Wrestling companies love this kind of thing as it is basically a present being handed to them, and now SmackDown is getting in on the idea.

WWE has announced that NXT personality and occasional wrestler Pat McAfee will be joining the SmackDown announce team beginning on this week’s post WrestleMania 37 show. McAfee debuted on NXT TV last year and became one of the major villains in the company, managing Danny Burch, Oney Lorcan and Pete Dunne in their rivalry against the Undisputed Era. McAfee also faces Adam Cole in a singles match and participated in WarGames. This will be his main roster debut.

You might need to get used to McAfee. Check out some of his greatness:

Opinion: This is going to be interesting, but I’m not sure how great McAfee is going to be at a regular broadcaster. He is at his best when he is a heel talking down to other people and getting to show off his personality. Maybe this works out and SmackDown could use a fresh voice, so this could go in a few different ways. Hopefully it works out though, as McAfee is way too talented to waste.
