It’s about that time. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed how wrestling works, with the main difference being the lack of fans. That has been the case for over a year now, but things are starting to turn around. AEW has already announced that they will be returning to live touring with fans in attendance starting in July, but that leaves another major company. Now we might know something about what is coming, at least for part of the promotion.

According to Spectrum Sports 360 Jon Alba, WWE has sent out an email regarding upcoming NXT tapings. Beginning with the May 18 show, NXT will be offering on-site Coronavirus testing, which must be completed to enter the show. This is a change from requiring a clean test the day before. Alba says that this is the first time that he has received such an email despite attending previous events. As a result, it is possible that NXT will be allowing more fans to attend the television tapings live, though this has not been announced by WWE.

NXT fans have quite the reputation. Check out how they earned it:

Opinion: Ignoring the health issues, which are going to be a problem for a good while to come, NXT having more fans back is automatically going to make the show feel that much more important and energized. The fans have done some great things for NXT over the years and it would be great to see the show back at full strength, if nothing else for the sake of feeling normal again. Fans can do all kinds of good things for a show and that is especially true of NXT.

On top of giving the people watching at home a better feeling and atmosphere, the change could help the wrestlers a lot. After wrestling in silence for so long, having the full crowd back could help so much. Having the smaller crowd there must have helped, but it is not the same thing as having a packed house. Things are starting to get better, and this could be a nice step back towards normalcy.
