Welcome back. NXT has been shaken up in a huge way over the last few months and there is nothing to suggest that those changes are going to stop anytime soon. The show has been changed from the ground up and there is very little left of what once was the original NXT. Now though, we are seeing something from the good old days, albeit with a fairly important part missing.

WWE has announced that NXT WarGames will be held on Sunday December 5. However, for the first time ever, the show will not be branded as a Takeover event. While not confirmed, this may suggest that NXT has retired the Takeover name. There have been no matches announced for the card, which will be the first special edition of NXT to not air in the regular Tuesday night slot.

There have been some pretty awesome WarGames matches. Check out some of them from NXT’s history:

Opinion: I’m not sure what to make of this. On one hand, I like the idea of having the Takeover name retired, as those shows were rather special both for NXT as well as the fans. At the same time, I have no idea if this version of NXT is ready for some kind of a special night, especially with a match as big and intense as WarGames. Maybe they can surprise me, but this feels like a major stretch.
