He’s busy. Amateur wrestling would seem to be a natural pipeline into professional wrestling, as the stars have a background that can serve them well in the new field. That is the kind of thing that can do a lot of good for professional stars and several have done so over the years. This time though, a WWE star seems interested in trying to go back the other way.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: No More? Former WWE Star Reveals His In-Ring Career Is “Probably” Over, Future Plans

During an interview with FloWrestling.com, Olympic gold medal winner and WWE star Gable Steveson said that he plans to use his final year of eligibility for college wrestling at the University of Minnesota next year. Steveson signed with WWE in 2021 but has yet to have his debut match. He has made multiple appearances for the company and gotten physical, but there is no word on when he will make his official debut.

Steveson has done some things in WWE. Check out some of his appearances:

Opinion: At this point, it’s becoming a reasonable question to wonder if Steveson will ever actually have a significant WWE career. His gold medal was about two years ago now and unless he wins another, I’m not sure how much of an impact it is going to have. At the end of the day, Steveson just hasn’t done anything in WWE and while that means he hasn’t disappointed, he needs to actually do something in WWE at some point or it doesn’t matter what he did elsewhere.

What do you think of Steveson? Will he be a big deal in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
