He’ll be busy. There are all kinds of athletes who have come from other sports and moves into wrestling. Several sports have produced successful stars and different backgrounds have resulted in quite the collection of talent over the years. Amateur wrestling has been one of the most prolific producers of professional wrestlers, but now things are moving backwards.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re In: Two New Matches Plus A Segment Confirmed For WWE Payback
United World Wrestling has announced that WWE Superstar and Olympic gold medal winning wrestler Gable Steveson will be participating in the upcoming 2023 World Championships of amateur wrestling. The competition runs from September 16-24 in Belgrade, Serbia. There is no word on what Steveson will be doing after the competition, though he has been rumored to be considering another Olympic run. Steveson signed with WWE in 2021 and made his in-ring debut at the Great American Bash last month, wrestling Baron Corbin to a double countout.

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise as Steveson has only been around in NXT so much during his time in WWE. At the end of the day, he’s been signed for about two years and has made a few appearances along with wrestling one match. That is hardly the biggest return on investment and now it seems that we are going to be waiting even longer. At some point Steveson is going to run out of amateur wrestling competitions and we’ll have to see what he does from there, but for now, it’s more waiting.
