There’s a reason for that. There are certain wrestlers who bring a star power into the company that cannot be manufactured. Whether it is success elsewhere, a natural charisma or success in another field, that wrestler feels like they are something special and the fans often notice. The promotion can as well, and now that star power is preventing someone from being on a show.

Ronda Rousey lost the SmackDown Women’s Title to Charlotte in an impromptu title match on the December 30, 2022 SmackDown. Rousey has not been seen on WWE TV since, leading to speculation about her future with the company. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rousey is not booked for the Royal Rumble as WWE did not want to waste her star power on the show. If Rousey is not winning the Women’s Royal Rumble or being the focal point of the match, WWE does not want to use her in it. There is no word on when Rousey will next appear on WWE TV.

Opinion: I can understand the thinking here, but Rousey’s star power is not exactly what it was before. Rousey’s second run with the company has not been quite as well received and it would make sense for her to give someone else in the match a rub where she can. That being said, what matters most for Rousey is getting back on television in a big spot and maybe that is coming after the Royal Rumble.
