He wasn’t interested. Winning a title is a big deal for any wrestler, as it means that someone is being presented in a prominent spot in the promotion. That can be a game changer in some cases, but at the same time, there are some situations where a wrestler might not be interested in winning a title. That was the case this week in quite the unique situation.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Get Well: Former WWE Superstar Reportedly Suffers Series Of Strokes, “Not Doing Good”

The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Sting and Darby Allin win the AEW Tag Team Titles from Ricky Starks and Big Bill. This comes less than a month before Sting is set to retire at Revolution. According to Fightful Select, Sting was said to be “adamantly” against challenging for the titles, let alone winning them. However, the decision was made “far in advance” and Sting was said to be all smiles backstage following the win.

Sting and Allin are a heck of a team. Check out the title change and how they did before winning the belts:

Opinion: What matters here is getting everything right, which was the case at the end of the show as the title change went rather well. It felt like a big moment for Sting as he and Allin are one of the most successful tag teams AEW has seen and giving them a win like this is a nice moment, both for Sting and the team. I’m curious to see how Sting’s career ends, but for now he’s about to go out well.
