Almost, but not quite. Most wrestling promotions are able to put together their plans a long time in advance, though that is often easier said than done. One of the more complicated issues is figuring out who is going to be winning each match, but there are times when things have to be changed at the last minute. That was the case this week, but then another change was made on top of it.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: BREAKING: Former WWE Star Makes Surprise AEW Debut, Reunites With Former Partner

The main event of this week’s NXT saw Indi Hartwell successfully defend the Women’s Title against Tiffany Stratton and Roxanne Perez. During the match, Hartwell injured her ankle and forced to return to the back to be checked out before returning. According to Wrestling Observer Live, WWE had planned to have Stratton win the title while they believed Hartwell was unable to continue. Instead, Hartwell was able to return and retained the title as planned.

It could have been different. Check out the three participants in action:

Opinion: That must have been a stressful few minutes, though also rather disappointing for Stratton. She was likely told that she would be winning the title, only to have it taken right back from her moments later. The good thing is that Hartwell was able to return to the match though, as that could have been a lot worse. Odds are Stratton will win the title at some point in the future, and it should be quite the start for her.
