Card subject to change. WWE presents several events every year and some of them are among the most important wrestling cards on any given calendar. It can make a big difference to a wrestler’s career when they are added to a show, but that difference can be negative if they are not on a show. There was a chance made to a match on this weekend’s major show and now we know more about it.

Over the weekend at WWE Survivor Series, Santos Escobar defeated Dragon Lee in a singles match. Lee was a replacement for Carlito, who was injured by Escobar this week on SmackDown. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Lee was always the planned opponent despite Carlito being announced in the first place. Eventually the goal is said to be Lee, Carlito and the returning Rey Mysterio against Escobar and two others following Mysterio’s recovery from knee surgery.

Opinion: This feels like a step in a much bigger story and there is nothing wrong with that. What matters here is having something planned in the long term and it could set up a rather nice six man tag down the line. At the same time, it is nice to see Lee getting a boost up the card. WWE needs some fresh blood in spots on the card and that seems to be their goal here with Lee.
