That would explain a few things. AEW has a large roster with a lot of talented wrestlers, but ultimately it has a core of wrestlers who have carried the company for its entire run so far. Several of these names have been working behind the scenes as well, but one of them is in a unique situation compared to the others. However, it might not be as complicated as it seems.

Earlier this week, a report came out that TNT Champion Cody Rhodes was working in AEW without a contract. This was made even more complicated by the fact that Rhodes is also an executive vice president with the company. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the possible reason Rhodes has not signed a new deal with the company is that he has been self-quarantining due to contact with someone with the Coronavirus. Rhodes is expected to be at this week’s edition of Dynamite.

Rhodes has been part of AEW since the beginning and is the only three time TNT Champion. His executive vice president status has been regularly mentioned on AEW television and has been used as part of storylines. Along with Rhodes, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks also serve as executive vice presidents under President Tony Khan.

Opinion: This continues to feel like much ado about nothing, as I cannot imagine Rhodes walking away from the company that he helped found. I’m not sure why Rhodes does not have a deal at the moment, but this is a situation where things are probably going to be ok without such a contract. Rhodes will likely sign again sooner rather than later and everything will be fine. If Rhodes leaves, there will be a huge problem, but this isn’t your normal situation.

What do you think of Rhodes’ time in AEW? Is this situation a big deal? Let us know in the comments below.
