She’s not a fan. Women’s wrestling has come a very, very long way in the last few years. The women’s division has gone from little more than a joke to the point where women in wrestling are running out of new accomplishments and milestones to achieve. It would be awful to see things take a step backwards and while that might not be the case, one WWE Superstar is not pleased with something that recently happened.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: There’s A Spot: “Mystery Slot” Reportedly Set For WrestleMania 40
Last week, a moment from a WWE live event went viral, when Rhea Ripley gave Nia Jax a Stinkface. Becky Lynch reacted to the moment during an interview with The Ten Count, saying she did not care for it as she felt it was the kind of thing that she had to fight against for so many years.
She went on to say she wondered how many young girls in the audience who wanted to be wrestlers would see something like that and believe it was what they had to do to become a wrestler. Lynch also said that it causes her to not be taken seriously in the ring as it was all about her body, saying “that just f****** sucks.” Lynch is set to challenge Ripley for the Women’s World Title at WrestleMania 40.
This should be a big fight. Check out their Road To WrestleMania:
Opinion: This is a situation where I can see both sides of the thing. On one hand, yes, Lynch has a point in that women’s wrestling was absolutely nothing but this for a very long time and she was one of the people who put in a lot of work to make it better. On the other hand, it doesn’t exactly feel like a big return to the old ways and comes off as more like a joke at a live event. It’s a situation where neither of them is wrong for what they did or said, though I doubt Ripley meant any hard with the whole thing.
