He’s up next. A title reign can be a game changer for any wrestler, as the longer the title reign goes, more often than not, the stronger of an impact it is going to have. That is the case in WWE, where long title reigns are becoming more of a trend. Now a long reigning champion is set for his next title defense against someone who has never gotten a shot at him before.

Mustafa Ali won a battle royal this week on Monday Night Raw, last eliminating Bronson Reed and Ricochet at the same time. As a result, Ali has earned a shot at Gunther’s Intercontinental Title at Night Of Champions on May 27 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Following the match, Gunther wished Ali luck, with Ali promising to win the title. While Ali has challenged for the title before, he has never faced Gunther in his career.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that the Draft can provide, as we now have fresh match to give Gunther something new to do. Gunther has already held the title for close to a year and it will be interesting to see if he can break the all time record for a single reign. He is going to have to get by Ali first though and that should make for a good showdown on one of the bigger stages available.
