That’s a plan. We are currently in the middle of the traditional holiday season and that can make scheduling incredibly difficult. This is certainly the case for wrestling promotions as well, as the companies are going to have to find a way to get all of their shows in while also giving their wrestlers a breather. That is something WWE is trying to do and now they have managed to make it work for at least a week.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Surprise! There Was An Unplanned Spot During A Survivor Series Grudge Match

WWE has taped the December 22 edition of SmackDown in advance, with the show being filmed following this week’s live episode. The show will air in the usual time slot on FOX three days before Christmas. Here are the results, courtesy of F4WOnline:

* US Championship Tournament Semifinal Match: Santos Escobar def. Bobby Lashley after Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo interfered.
* NXT North American Championship Match: Dragon Lee def. Butch
* AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and LA Knight appeared to cut a promo in which they made their case for a match with Roman Reigns, which led to a triple threat #1 contender’s match being booked for the New Year’s Revolution episode of Smackdown.
* Holiday Havoc: Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Zelina Vega & Michin def. Damage CTRL. Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre attacked Sane during the match.
* US Championship Tournament Semifinal Match: Kevin Owens def. Carmelo Hayes
* AJ Styles def. Solo Sikoa by DQ following Roman Reigns interference. The Bloodline, Styles, Knight, and Orton brawled to end the show.

The September 29 episode is expected to be taped in advance as well, though it is not clear when or where that taping will be taking place.

They have a lot to follow. Check out some of this week’s show:

Opinion: This is something that almost has to be done around this time of the year, as there is little to be gained by having a live show near the holidays. Let the wrestlers have a break to be with their families, as it will help more than one thing in such a short span. If nothing else, the show certainly seems important enough and that should make for a nice night around the holiday weekend.
