Two for one. Titles are one of the most important parts of any wrestling promotion as they immediately offer all kinds of storyline possibilities for the roster. A wrestler winning a title can change quite a bit about their career but more often than not, a title win is paired with a title loss. That was the case this weekend, as two titles changed hands on the same show.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: No More: WWE Stable Officially Disbands For Good

There were two title changes this weekend at NXT No Mercy. First, Trick Williams defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the North American Title. This marks Williams’ first title win at any level in WWE. Later in the show, Carmelo Hayes lost the NXT Title to Ilja Dragunov. Also on the show, Tony D’Angelo and Stacks retained the Tag Team Titles in a four way match, Noam Dar retained the Heritage Cup over Butch and Becky Lynch retained the Women’s Title over Tiffany Stratton.

It was a busy night. Check out the title changes and one of the retaining champions:

Opinion: Having title changes is a good way to make a show feel important and No Mercy covered that rather well. Mysterio losing the title felt a bit out of nowhere while Dragunov’s title win felt like a long time coming. That makes for a nice mixture and both of the title changes came in good matches. The show felt important though and that is something that can do a lot of positive things for NXT as a whole.
