He Did It! New World Champion Crowned Over The Weekend

For the first time. There are all kinds of titles in any wrestling company but the most important in any promotion is the World Title. That is the top championship and the ultimate sign that someone is on top of the company. Winning the World Title can be the biggest moment of a wrestler’s career and that was the case again this weekend, as a star won his first ever World Title.

Steve Maclin defeated Kushida to win the Impact Wrestling World Title at Rebellion over the weekend. The title is Maclin’s first in Impact Wrestling and his first major singles title anywhere in his career. The title was vacant following an injury to Josh Alexander, forcing him to relinquish the championship. Alexander is expected to be out for most of the rest of the year due to a torn tricep.

Opinion: This is something that has been set up for a long time now as Maclin has been built into being the biggest threat to the title in a good while. It would have been great to see Maclin defeat Alexander and end his record reign, but for now there is only so much else that can be done. Maclin is someone who could be a top star for a long time to come and now he has taken the most important step.
