There is always time for more. We are less than two days away from Extreme Rules and that means things are mostly set. Since it’s WWE though, they know how to add in a little bit more at the last minute, which is especially the case at a show like this. The Extreme Rules theme allows for a lot of stipulation matches and WWE added another one on the final show before the pay per view.
One of the things that WWE always like to do is include the fans in some of their decisions. That may sound like a recipe for disaster, so this time around WWE changed things up a bit. With one major match still to be set for Extreme Rules, WWE asked the fans what kind of a match they wanted to see. The results were too close to call though, so it was decided in the ring instead.
This week on SmackDown, Cesaro defeated Big E. in a singles match, earning the right to pick the stipulation for the SmackDown Tag Team Title match at Extreme Rules. The win let Cesaro pick between a tables match and a steel cage match, with Cesaro selecting the tables match. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura will challenge New Day for the titles on Sunday.
These four have been feuding for a good while now. Check out how we got here:
Opinion: This isn’t exactly surprising as they have been teasing a tables match between the teams for a long time now. They only had so many options to pick from but I do appreciate throwing the cage match idea out there, just for the sake of making it completely obvious. So often WWE will make things as clear as they can and it takes away all of the drama. There still wasn’t much here, but it was better than nothing.
