Add it to the card. If there is one thing that NXT knows how to do, it is how to set up a Takeover card in a hurry. That is the kind of situation that NXT seems to be in time after time, but NXT has an ability to set things up in a hurry. A lot of this can be attributed to setting up matches and feuds in advance before finally pulling the trigger on them as a show is announced. That is the case again this time around.

Earlier this month, Leon Ruff shocked the NXT world by defeating Johnny Gargano for the North American Title. Gargano had rigged a special wheel to give Ruff the title shot but Ruff won the title anyway. Granted there was some assistance from Damian Priest, which made you think that Ruff’s win might not have been the most impressive. Ruff did not like like this, and that set things up for Takeover.

This week on NXT, William Regal announced that Ruff will be defending the North American title against both Priest and Gargano in a triple threat match at Takeover: WarGames on December 6. The announcement comes after Ruff said that he wanted to prove that he is not a joke and that he could defend the title against both of them at once. This will be Ruff’s second title defense after he defeated Gargano in a rematch.

It was a rough way to go. Check out how the match was set up:

Opinion: This is one of the places where NXT shines. You could see the match coming as soon as Ruff made his statement, as misguided as it may have been. There was no question about where things were going, but the way NXT got there made perfect sense and that’s all it needed to be. NXT knows how to go with the logical booking and that is what they are doing here again.
