New Title Match Confirmed For Summerslam

Add it to the list. We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and that means the card has mostly been set. There are still some spots to fill in though and that means there is some work left to be done. That includes some title matches as WWE certainly has a lot of gold (and silver) going around. Another one of those matches was taken care of this week.

Over the last few months, Bayley and Sasha Banks have taken over the women’s title pictures. They hold both women’s singles titles and the Women’s Tag Team Titles, with Bayley approaching a year as SmackDown Women’s Champion. That is quite the stretch of time, though Banks has quite the way to go to catch up. Her reign might be in trouble at Summerslam.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Asuka defeated Bayley in a non-title match to earn herself a shot at Banks’ Raw Women’s Title at Summerslam. The match will be Asuka’s rematch after losing the title to Banks via countout on the July 27 Monday Night Raw. Asuka demanded her rematch but Banks said that Asuka had to defeat Bayley to become the #1 contender.

Opinion: This wasn’t exactly the biggest surprise and that’s not a bad thing. Asuka was never pinned for the title and while she did lose it according to the rules of the match, it wasn’t exactly your normal way to go. The first match was a good one and if they are given the big chance on the main stage, they should be fine. Now just don’t screw it up once we get to Summerslam.
