Wheeler Yuta defeated Katsuyori Shibata to regain the Ring Of honor Pure Rules Title this week on AEW Rampage. The win extends Yuta’s record number of reigns to three as he is still the only person to ever regain the title. Shibata had defeated Yuta to win the title at Supercard Of Honor back in March. In addition, according to Fightful Select, Shibata is expected to take some time away from Ring Of Honor and return to Japan.
It was a big deal. Check out the title change and the new champion:
Opinion: If Shibata is leaving, this is something that had to happen and Yuta cheating to regain the title gives Shibata an out. Yuta is someone who can get something out of having the title back and that should open up a few doors going forward. At the very least, Shibata was only able to get so much out of the title on his limited schedule so this move makes more sense all things considered.
