What a busy night. Titles are a huge deal in wrestling and losing a championship can be a major turning point for a wrestler. The same is true on the other side, as someone winning a title can completely change their career trajectory. It means a lot when any such thing happens, which means that multiple title changes happening in one night makes things all the more interesting.

There were two major wrestling events on Sunday night as AEW presented Double Or Nothing and NXT presented Battleground. Over the course of these shows, there were thirteen combined title matches (one of which was impromptu) and three titles changes hands. At Battleground, Tiffany Stratton won a tournament final over Lyra Valkyria to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. At Double Or Nothing, Toni Storm defeated Jamie Hayter to win the AEW Women’s Title and the returning Kris Statlander defeated Jade Cargill in an impromptu match to win the TBS Title. The following champions retained their titles:
Battleground
Wes Lee – North American Title
Noam Dar – Heritage Cup
Gallus – Tag Team Titles
Carmelo Hayes – NXT Title
Double Or Nothing
Orange Cassidy – International Title
FTR – Tag Team Titles
Wardlow – TNT Title
House Of Black – Trios Titles
Jade Cargill – TBS Title (First Defense)
Maxwell Jacob Friedman – AEW World Title

Opinion: There was a lot of wrestling this weekend and it made for a heck of a schedule. Multiple title changes made the weekend feel that much more important and it is pretty cool to see this much happen at once. If nothing else, this sends some things into different directions, which is often one of the most important things that can happen every so often in wrestling.
