The minor league minor league? NXT debuted almost eleven years ago and has undergone quite a few changes in its time. The show has gone from little more than a filler show on WWE.com to one of the most prominent wrestling shows of the year. Above all else, the show now airs on the USA Network every Wednesday night and brings in WWE millions of dollars a year. Now they might be getting a little something of their own.

WWE is easily the biggest wrestling company in the world and one of the ways they got there was by absorbing several other wrestling promotions along the way. This has been great for WWE but not so great for everyone else, as a lot of wrestlers no have nowhere to go as a result. WWE might be trying something a little unique and now more wrestlers might have a place to work.

According to Wrestlinginc.com, WWE is planning a new weekly wrestling show, which will serve as NXT’s minor league. Evolve Wrestling’s Gabe Sapolsky will be in charge of the show with various agents to be chosen. The show was originally planned to launch in early 2021 but has been delayed, with the starting point not being known. According to 411mania.com, Saplosky has seemingly tweeted about the situation, saying in a private tweet that “things get way overblown”.

Sapolsky’s previous company worked out well for WWE. Check out what Evolve wrestling has done:

Opinion: This could go one way or another and that is not necessarily a good thing. Above all else, WWE has quite a bit of television already and there comes a point where it does not have much of an impact any longer. I’m not sure how well something like this is going to work but there is a chance that it plays out well. Hopefully it lets some more people get a chance, which is always a good thing for the wrestlers involved.
