New Ground: Seth Rollins Set For Title Defense In Unique Situation

Book it! The last few weeks have seen all kinds of changes to the title picture in WWE, with new titles being introduced and new champions being crowned. That can make for some interesting situations and open up a new reality for the promotion. The new reality is getting stranger and stranger, and now we will be in for an even more unique title match next week.

Last week on NXT, Bron Breakker challenged WWE World heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to come defend the title in NXT. This week, Breakker called Rollins out again, with Rollins appearing on the Titantron to accept the challenge for next week’s Gold Rush event. Rollins is a former NXT Champion, becoming the first champion in the title’s history back in 2012.

Opinion: This seems to be part of WWE continuing to boost NXT to a higher level and that is not a bad thing. Rollins can get a title defense over a prominent NXT star and Breakker is not going to be hurt by losing to one of the biggest stars in the company. I like the idea and hopefully it works out, as Breakker is getting to rub elbows with someone who can give him a nice boost.
