The list keeps growing. Earlier this week, Big Cass was released from WWE in a major surprise. Just two days prior to his release, Cass was wrestling on a pay per view against Daniel Bryan and then he was just gone. It was clear that something odd was up here but the question became just what exactly happened. A lot of details have come out since then and now there are some more possible reasons that led to Cass’ surprising release.

Here’s what WWE is giving up.

Big Cass promises to take Daniel Bryan on a ride: SmackDown LIVE, June 12, 2018

While Cass’ going off script during the attack in the Daniel Bryan look-a-like last month was a major part of the problem, there were several other factors. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cass went longer than his planned time on a promo on SmackDown, with Vince McMahon himself hating the promo so much that the promo’s writer was fired. Second, according to Sports Illustrated, Cass had some issues with alcohol and public intoxication while on the European tour, leading to some attitude issues.

Finally, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet, on the same trip, Cass also wound up trapped in a bathroom on the tour bus. Thinking he was being ribbed and not realizing that the door was actually broken, Cass broke the door down, causing repairs that WWE had to cover. It also made thinks awkward for the rest of the people on the bus, who had no door left on the bathroom.

Opinion: At this point, I’m wondering what else Cass could have pinned on him. There’s a bunch of stuff here and odds are there’s even more to it than this. It really does come off as a bunch of things hitting all at once and one of them acting as the last straw. I’m sure there’s a chance that Cass will come back down the line, but it was clear that multiple things were wrong here and it was time for Cass to be gone from the company. With all that going on, it’s hard to blame anyone but Cass himself.
