That’s one. Earlier this week, NXT announced that the next Takeover will be held on Sunday October 4. This came out of almost nowhere with rather little build towards the show. NXT only held Takeover: XXX less than a month ago, meaning there was not exactly a ton of time to set this one up. Something had to be done in a hurry, and now we know a bit more about it.

This week on NXT, General Manager William Regal announced a new match called the Gauntlet Eliminator to crown a new #1 contender to the NXT Title, with the title shot coming at the next Takeover. The match will consist of five wrestlers and will be a combination of a gauntlet match and a Royal Rumble, which is something new for everyone. No names were announced, but now we know someone who will be involved.

WWE has announced that Kushida will be the first of the five entrants into the Gauntlet Eliminator, though it is not clear in which spot he will enter the match. It is not clear when the rest of the field will be announced for the match. Kushida has been appearing on recent editions of NXT, including attacking Velveteen Dream and defeating Austin Theory on this week’s NXT.

Kushida has been on a role as of late. Check out who could be coming for the NXT Title:

Opinion: This gives me some good hope for the match as we could be in for something interesting. Kushida has been waiting for his big break in NXT and while I don’t exactly buy him as being the favorite to win the whole thing, at least he is being treated as someone who could be a threat to become the new #1 contender. The rest of the field could be just as good, which makes for a potentially awesome match.

What do you think of the match? Who else should be in the field? Let us know in the comments below.
