First time for everything. Title changes can be some of the most important part of any wrestler’s career, as it can mean the beginning or the end of a push. That is the kind of thing you do not see happen very often but there are some rather specific instances where things can be all the more different. That was the case again this weekend, as something happened for the first time ever.

Over the weekend at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Logan Paul defeated Rey Mysterio to become the new United States Champion. According to Wrestling Stats & Info, this marks the first time that a reign with the title began and ended outside of the United States. Mysterio won the title on August 11 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with his title reign lasting 86 days.
Since the title's lineage began in 1975, no reign with the United States Championship has both started AND ended outside of the ??. But it could happen this weekend…@reymysterio won the title in ?? in August. Tomorrow, he defends it against @LoganPaul at #WWECrownJewel in ??.

Opinion: This is one of those details that makes for an interesting situation on top of the title change. The US Title has been around since the mid 1970s (with a few exceptions) and the fact that this hasn’t happened yet is quite a surprise. You would think that it would have happened at some point in the title’s history, but it still makes for a special moment all things considered.
