Time to change the leader board. Roman Reigns has dominated WWE for the last few years, holding the Universal Title since August 30, 2021. That is a run as champion that has not been seen in decades and the question has become how long can he hold the title going forward. While that answer has yet to be determined, there is one more item that can be added to Reigns’ resume.

As of Saturday, Reigns has held the title for 1,028 days. This officially moves him past Pedro Morales into fifth place all time for longest World Title reign in WWE history. Reigns is now 209 days behind Bruno Sammartino’s second reign for fourth all time, which he would surpass on January 18, 2024. The all time record is 2,803 days, also held by Sammartino, which Reigns would pass in May 2028. It is not known when he will next defend his title.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is almost hard to fathom. While Reigns is not defending his title at the usual pace of WWE standards, there is something incredible about holding the title this long. There is almost no way of telling just how long he will be champion, but at the moment, the answer could be “a very long time to come”, as the reign shows no signs of slowing down.
