That could hurt a lot. Wrestlers can have their careers go up and down in a hurry and that may not be for the best reason. A career can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye and that may be either positive or negative. Sometimes an injury can be the worst thing to happen to a wrestler as it can derail months of storylines at once. That seems to be the case again.
Back in August, Retribution made their WWE and things have not exactly gone well since then. The team has lost over and over again with almost no major accomplishments to their name. Adding in Mustafa Ali as the team’s leader did not exactly help things out as the team’s downward spiral has continued. Things have gotten even worse since then and now we might know why.
According to the Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast, Ali is currently working injured since the December 28, 2020 Monday Night Raw when he tore his PCL in a match against Ricochet. Ali has been working through the injury as it will require surgery and time off. The group began to display problems around the time of the injury and a blowoff was planned for WrestleMania. However, it may have taken place at Fastlane as the rest of the team attacked Ali.
This could have been better. Check out Ali’s issues as of late:
Opinion: This would explain a thing or two but it does not make things that much better. Retribution has been one of the biggest misfires in recent memory and there is nothing to suggest that things are going to get any better. Ali being introduced as the head of the team did not help things out very much so maybe having them split up is the right thing. If nothing else it can allow Ali to get fixed up, which is the right thing long term.
