That’s a serious one. There are all kinds of injuries who can put a wrestler on the shelf and some of them can be rather devastating. You never know when you are going to see someone put on the shelf as they can happen at almost any time. Unfortunately that seemed to be the case again last week and now things might be even worse than they appeared.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One Among Many: Update On Drew McIntyre’s WWE Contract Status, Others In Similar Situation
Last week on AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson suffered a broken orbital bone during a match also involving Kazuchika Okada and Orange Cassidy. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Danielson has undergone surgery to repair the injury, as this was the only way to correct the issue. Danielson was originally planned to face Okada at Wrestle Kingdom on January 4 but it is not clear if the match will be able to take place. There is a chance that Claudio Castagnoli, Danielson’s partner, will take Danielson’s place in the match but this is not yet confirmed.
That is rough. Check out what healthy Danielson can do in AEW:
Opinion: Egads it is rough to hear about Danielson suffering another injury as he has one heck of a list of injuries. It would be terrible for him to miss what could be one of the biggest matches he will have left in his career so hopefully he is able to be back in the ring as soon as possible. At the same time, it could be interesting to see what happens without Danielson on Collision, as he has been carrying the show for the last few weeks.
What do you think of the situation? Who should face Okada if Danielson can’t go? Let us know in the comments below.
