Wrestling causes problems. There are a lot of unwritten rules in wrestling and while they might make all of the sense in the world to people who understand what is going on, some of them can come out of absolutely nowhere to an outsider. The idea may not be completely insane, but they can cause some issues to the uninitiated. That was the case again, albeit with Disney being involved.

Professional wrestling has had some issues with being represented by mainstream entertainment. There are some stereotypical wrestling ideas that you will see over and over again, making it a rare treat to see wrestling being treated a bit more realistically. Disney is about to air a lucha libre themed series called Ultra Violet & Blue Demon, but one of wrestling’s longstanding traditions almost caused a problem.

Blue Demon and Ultra Violet & Blue Demon Executive Producer Eugenio Villamar were guests on the Wrestling Inc. Daily Podcast where they spoke about the making of the show. During the interview, Villamar spoke about Demon going to Disney studios and wearing his mask the entire time, which caused issues with security. Demon never removed his mask, even when meeting with Disney executives, as he is Blue Demon every day of his life. There is no word on when the series will be debuting.

It is quite the discussion. Check out the full interview:

Blue Demon Jr Discusses His Upcoming Disney Channel Series "Ultra Violet & Blue Demon"

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise as the lucha libre tradition is rather strong. There is nothing wrong with Demon wearing his mask all the time, though I can understand why some people might not get the idea behind the whole thing. It isn’t the most normal way of going about things, but this is how it works in the world of lucha libre and that is something very unique to wrestling.
