Earlier this week, it was announced that SmackDown will be returning to the USA Network on Friday September 13. The original press release said that the show would move over in October but the schedule has been moved up. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the change was made due to FOX planning to move some of the final SmackDown’s to Fox Sports 1 due to college football coverage. The USA Network is more readily available than Fox Sports 1, meaning SmackDown will be able to reach a bigger audience.
It’s a big show. Check out what is coming to USA:
Opinion: This makes sense and it is a good thing for WWE. It shouldn’t be a surprise that FOX is not overly interested in protecting SmackDown when it is leaving the network later this year. Instead, putting it on USA early is good for USA, as well as getting things to the new norm sooner rather than later. The show could be rather stacked and that should open up a few interesting doors.
What do you think of the change? How big should WWE make the first show on USA? Let us know in the comments below.
