Out Of Many, One: WWE Announces Huge #1 Contenders Match For WrestleMania Shot Against Gunther

For the big show. We are just over a month away from WrestleMania 40 and that means the card is starting to come together. Several of the title matches have been set up in advance but there are still several such matches that need to be confirmed. Some of those matches are already being teased and now we have a shortlist of challenges for one of the titles.

In recent weeks, several wrestlers have pitched their reasons for being the new #1 contender to Gunther’s Intercontinental Title. This week on Monday Night Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce announced that there will be a gauntlet match on March 11 to crown a new #1 contender, with the winner getting a title shot against Gunther at WrestleMania 40. Here are the gauntlet match participants:

Sami Zayn
Ricochet
Shinsuke Nakamura
Bronson Reed
JD McDonagh
Chad Gable

That’s quite the lineup. Check out some of the potential challengers:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that has been teased for a good while now and it is nice to see it finally being announced. There are more than a few interesting options here and while Sami Zayn seems to be the most likely choice, there is at least someone else in there who could get the shot. Now just make it work and give us a good title match at Wrestlemania and we should be fine.
