Back later? WWE is in a rather unique place in the wrestling world as the company has its own in-house developmental program with NXT. Wrestlers coming into the company and are often placed into NXT to get their start. That is the case with some bigger names as well, but now one of those bigger names might not be around NXT much longer for a rather unique reason.

Back in 2021, Olympic gold metal winner Gable Steveson signed with WWE, though he has yet to have his debut match. Instead, Steveson has made some random appearances at major events, plus some recent appearances in NXT. However, Steveson is scheduled to make an announcement about his NXT future next week. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Steveson is expected to take a break from NXT and begin training for a return to amateur wrestling later this year. There is a chance that Steveson will attempt another Olympics run next year. It is not clear when he will return to NXT.

Steveson is a different breed. Check out what he has done in WWE so far:

Opinion: At the end of the day, it would surprise me if Steveson didn’t take one more shot at amateur wrestling. He has more than enough talent to make a run at the Olympics and winning another gold medal would take him to an even more elite level. Hopefully he makes it to WWE one day, but at this rate, I’m not sure when that day is actually going to be after all of these delays.

What do you think of Steveson? How will he do in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
