The land of opportunity. NXT has turned into a completely unique wrestling promotion. On one hand, you have it as the place where a lot of WWE wrestlers learn their craft for the first time. On the other hand though, it’s kind of like a holding tank/finishing school for stars who already know how to work and just need a few more pointers before heading up to the main roster. Tonight, another name was added to the latter half of the list.

At NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV, Matt Riddle was shown in the crowd, which is the traditional way that NXT introduces its newest stars. Riddle has recently been rumored to be coming into the WWE fold, with an independent promotion even advertising an appearance as one of his last matches before heading to WWE. There is no word on when Riddle will make his in-ring debut for NXT.

Here’s a little more on Riddle.

Meet Matt Riddle, Indie Wrestling's 'King of Bros'

Opinion: While not the biggest surprise in the world (it was pretty much spoiled a long time ago), it’s still a moment that people have been waiting to see for a long time now. In addition to the surprise of having him show up, I love that Riddle keeps his name. There’s no reason to change him into some other name as the fans are going to know who he is and Riddle is already a strong name on its own. Why mess with what people already know?
