You have to start somewhere. Like any other wrestling promotion, WWE runs special events from time to time, often in addition to their monthly pay per views. Some of these have quite the history in their own right, even if they involve tapping into something that might not have originated with them. That is going to be the case next month and now we have a start to the card.

This week on NXT, General Manager William Regal broke up a fight between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. As a result, Regal decided that the two of them could have a singles match at the Great American Bash special on July 6. This comes after O’Reilly defeated Cole in a singles match in the main event of NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver Night Two in April. Prior to the Great American Bash, the two will both be in singles matches on the June 22 NXT, with O’Reilly facing Kushida and Cole’s opponent to be named.

O’Reilly and Cole’s relationship goes back to their debuts in NXT in 2017 when they, along with Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong, formed the Undisputed Era. The team dominated NXT, eventually holding all of the available championships at the same time. Cole eventually turned on the team though, with O’Reilly stepping up to fight him, including their match at Takeover: Stand & Deliver.

These two have a heck of a history together. Check out how we got here:

Opinion: That’s the kind of match that makes a lot of sense on a special show and the fact that they already have a huge history between the two of them makes it even better. I’m curious to see how the match goes as their previous match was quite the showdown. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cole win to even the feud but that is far from a guarantee at this point.

What do you expect from the match? Will this be the end of their feud? Let us know in the comments below.
