That’s a big one. We are on the Road To WrestleMania 37 but there is a required stop on the way. That would be the Fastlane pay per view on March 21, which is less than three weeks before WrestleMania. WWE has been focusing on the bigger show far more than Fastlane, but now things are starting to switch up a bit. Now we have a main event for the pay per view.

There has been almost no one in WWE even close to Roman Reigns’ level in the last six plus months. Reigns has become the top star in WWE and that can cause a bit of a problem. As dominant as he is, there are only so many people who can give him a real run for his money. WWE has been trying to figure out a way to challenge him and now they have a new opponent.
During this week’s SmackDown, Daniel Bryan became the new #1 contender to the Universal Title by defeating Jey Uso in a cage match. This comes a week after the two went to a double countout in a match with the same stipulations. Reigns defeated Bryan at Elimination Chamber, albeit in a match that took place immediately after Bryan had won the Elimination Chamber match.

It took some time to get here. Check out how the match was set up:

Daniel Bryan shocks Roman Reigns with “Yes!” Lock: WWE Elimination Chamber (WWE Network Exclusive)

Daniel Bryan challenges Roman Reigns to a title match at Fastlane: SmackDown, Feb. 26, 2021

Bryan says Reigns vs. Edge at WrestleMania is not set in stone: SmackDown, March 5, 2021

Opinion: I’m down for this match and it is the one match that makes sense for Fastlane. With Reigns vs. Edge set for WrestleMania 37, this is the only way to go so it makes all the sense in the world. Hopefully we get the performance that both are capable of because we could be seeing a heck of a fight. There is a long way to WrestleMania, but it will be great if these two can pull something off.
