Records are made to be broken. Like any other sport, wrestling has a history all its own, with all kinds of statistics and records that can be broken down and analyzed in a variety of ways. That is the kind of thing that can go in all kinds of different directions, many of which can be absolutely fascinating. Now there is a new record books and someone else has taken a top spot.
Since its debut in 2017, the United Kingdom Title has only been held by three wrestlers: Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne and Walter. That is a who’s who of NXT UK stars so far and those title matches have been some of the best things that WWE has produced in the time period. We are coming up on four years since the title debuted and now one of the highest profile records has been broken.
The NXT UK Twitter account has announced that as of Thursday, Walter has become the longest reigning United Kingdom Champion of all time. On Thursday, Walter’s reign reached 686 days, tying Dunne for the longest reign in the title’s history. As of Friday, Walter has set the all time record, marking the longest title reign in WWE since Hulk Hogan’s first WWE Title reign.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is rather impressive no matter how you look at it, though the six months or so that NXT UK was on hiatus. Either way, Walter is one of the most impressive stars that WWE has had in a very long time now. Whoever takes the title from him is going to be an instant star, mainly because it feels like a task that almost no one could actually pull off.
