LOOK: WWE Unveils New World Title Belt This Week On SmackDown

That’s a new one. There are all kinds of championships throughout the history of WWE and some of them have become among the most iconic in the industry. Some of those titles have been around for a very long time but they all had to be introduced at some point. That might have been the case again this week, as two title belts were merged into just one.

This week’s edition of SmackDown was built around Roman Reigns’ 1000th day as Universal Champion, marking the fifth person who has ever reached such a milestone. As part of the celebration, WWE COO Triple H unveiled a new title belt, which will replace the two titles that Reigns has held since WrestleMania 39. The title features the same WWE logo design but with a gold background.

Opinion: This is something that has to be done every so often and that’s not a terrible thing. At the end of the day, Reigns (or Paul Heyman) has been carrying around those two titles for over a year now and putting it together into one title is a good idea. If nothing else it gives things a more classic look, which is what needs to be the case for a title reign that has become this special.
