It was a great run. There are all kinds of people in WWE and a lot of them are not people you are going to see on television. These are the kinds of people who are going to be rather important to making everything run smoothly in WWE, but that does not mean their jobs are safe all of the time. That has been proven to be the case due to the Coronavirus pandemic and it seems to be the case again.

A ring announcer is one of the most important part of a show. They set the stage, they let you know what you are seeing and they get you hyped up for the show. In addition to that, they offer you a voice that you recognize and trust. There are some voices that you hear over and over again and now you know what you are going to be seeing. Now one of those former voices is gone from WWE.

According to PWInsider.com, WWE has released another group of backstage names, with about 10-15 total names being released. The highest profile name being released is Tony Chimel, who had been working for WWE in various capacities since 1991. His most well known tenure with the company was as the SmackDown ring announcer. In recent years, Chimel had been working backstage and overseeing the ring crew at live events.

Chmel has been around for a long time. Check out some of his moments in WWE:

Opinion: I’m not sure what to think about this one, as there is a bit of a difference between cutting active wrestlers and letting a former ring announcers and ring crew supervisor going. At the end of the day, Chimel works on live events and WWE is not running live events at the moment. I can understand they idea of wanting to be loyal, but there is only so much that can be done in this situation.

What did you think of Chimel? Who is your favorite wrestling ring announcer? Let us know in the comments below.
