He’s out. AEW has not yet been around for five years but the company has undergone quite a few changes during its history. There have been all kinds of wrestlers who have come and gone, but some of them have been around since the company came together in the first place. Even those wrestlers leave though, and that is the case again, albeit with someone leaving on good terms.

Shawn Spears has announced that he is leaving AEW following a five year run with the company. Spears thanked AEW for letting him start on the ground level of AEW at the beginning and said that this was a personal choice for him. There is nothing to suggest that there are any issues between the two sides. This comes less than a week after Spears and his wife Cassie Lee announced that they were expecting their second child. Spears last wrestled for AEW at All Out on September 3.
What a wonderful time it has been.
Thank you @AEW for allowing me to be there from the ground level. It’s been a fantastic 5 years of growth and personal development.
This is a personal choice and one that is best for me and my family at this time.
Thank you to all, staff…

Spears had a nice run in AEW. Check out some of his time there:
Opinion: If this is what makes the most sense for Spears then that is a good thing. He hasn’t been used very frequently by AEW and this very well may free him up to spend more time with his family. It doesn’t seem that there are any problems between the two sides and it is always nice to see an amicable split like this one. Spears did well in AEW and I’m sure he’ll have a career on the independent circuit if he wants one.
