They have earned it. There have been all kinds of stars throughout the history of wrestling but only a select group reach legendary status. While several wrestlers will win championships at some point in their career, they will ultimately lose them at some point. That leaves few honors that last forever, but now another group of wrestlers will be receiving such praise.

The inaugural class of the Women’s Wrestling Hall Of Fame has been announced. The 2023 class will include 18 entries, with 16 individuals, one tag team and one promotion. Inductions will take place at various locations, including at Icons Of Wrestling in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 17 and at an upcoming World Classic Professional Big Time Wrestling event in Ohio. The Women’s Wrestling Hall Of Fame will be associated with the International Wrestling Hall Of Fame in Albany, New York.

* Susan ‘Tex’ Green
* Rita Marie Chatterton
* Carlena ‘Jazz’ Begnaud

* Babs Wingo
* Ethel Johnson
* GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling)
* Tom Burke
* Laurene Landon
* Jamie Hemmings
* Lori McGee

Opinion: This is long overdue and there is no reason for it to have taken this long. Women’s wrestling has been a part of the industry for decades and it is great to see it getting this kind of recognition. It is great to see women in wrestling getting this moment and hopefully more will be inducted into the future. A wrestling Hall of Fame is subjective in several ways but they have certainly started quickly.
