Down The List: Omos Was Far From The First Choice For Brock Lesnar's WrestleMania Opponent

Not the first? We are just over four weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and the card is starting to come together. You can see a lot of the show from here and several matches have already been announced for the card. That makes for some interesting moments, but it can also be interesting to see what else didn’t happen. Now we have a better idea of what we missed.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Brock Lesnar agreed to face Omos at WrestleMania 39. According to Fightful Select, there were multiple matches pitched for Lesnar before Omos was chosen as his WrestleMania opponent. These names included Gunther, Bobby Lashley (who Lesnar had been feuding with on and off for over a year) and Bray Wyatt. There is no word on why the previous matches were called off or how far Omos was down on the list.

Opinion: Omos was a bit of an odd choice for Lesnar’s opponent but it does seem like WWE had other ideas before they went in that direction. That makes more sense, as Omos vs. Lesnar has the potential to be quite the styles clash. Hopefully the match works out well, and if Lesnar gets to throw Omos around for a few minutes, we should be in for quite the spectacle.
