He’ll be around. There are certain wrestlers who reach legendary status while they are still active competitors. You do not see stars of this magnitude very often but when you do, it can be a special moment. Those wrestlers can be very valuable to a promotion and it makes sense to keep them around as long as possible. That is what WWE seems to be doing again.

According to F4W Online, Rey Mysterio has agreed to a new contract with WWE, though the terms of the new deal were not clear. Mysterio, 49, has said that he does not see himself wrestling when he is fifty years old. This comes on the same day that Mysterio’s son Dominik is reported to have signed a new five year deal with the company. Rey is currently out of action recovering from knee surgery.

Opinion: That’s good to hear, as Rey being around WWE is always a positive. I’m not sure how much longer Rey is going to be getting in the ring, but his recent efforts have been some of his better stuff in the last few years. Hopefully he gets to go out as he wants to, which is the kind of thing that he has earned over his career. Rey is a legend, and WWE is smart to keep him around for a long time to come.
