The more the merrier? AEW has come a very long way in its still relatively short history. The company is not even four years old yet and already has four weekly series and a roster to back it up. That is a rather difficult feat to accomplish but the company has pulled it off. Now they need to find their next step forward and it seems that is going to involve even more content.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW will be getting another television show, though it is not clear what kind of a show it will be or when it would be airing. Meltzer said that while booking another show would be difficult, AEW already has the roster to make it work as its wrestlers working once a week would be enough to cover a new show. The company is already expected to get a reality show and it is not clear if this will be the same show or a different one. AEW currently has two weekly television series and two weekly web series, plus quarterly television special.
Opinion: The more I think about this, the more sense it makes. While AEW already has a lot of content, Dark and Dark: Elevation are collections of squash matches which make almost no difference overall. That leaves AEW with three meaningful hours of TV a week and that isn’t enough for all of the people they have on the roster. Unless AEW gets rid of a lot of people, which seems unlikely, they probably need the extra time.
