The Champ isn’t here. This past Sunday at “Royal Rumble 2017”, John Cena defeated AJ Styles to tie Ric Flair’s record for the most World Titles in wrestling history. At the same time, Cena is doing a bunch of mainstream work and seems to be toning down his in ring time. That would still seem to be the case despite the fact that he’s champion again.

According to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, Cena is not advertised for this weekend’s “Smackdown Live” house shows. There is no word on whether or not this will be permanent or if Cena will be working a lighter house show schedule. Cena has been taking various mainstream opportunities lately such as hosting “Saturday Night Live” and appearing in various Hollywood movies.

Does this really surprise anyone? It’s clear that Cena, who is less than three months away from turning forty years old, is winding down his in ring career. He’s put in more than enough time on the road and this seems to be his big victory lap. I’m sure Cena will be around for years to come in big match scenarios but the idea of him missing house shows isn’t the biggest surprise.

Do you think Cena will eventually reach seventeen World Titles? Does he get out of the Elimination Chamber with the title? Let us know in the comments below.
