That didn’t last long. Every now and then, a wrestler comes along who gets a push for reasons that may be clear but aren’t popular. These pushes can get old in a hurry and yet they are continuously out there no matter how little success they may have with the fans. That was certainly the case in 2017 and it was looking like the case again, though something might be slowing it down a bit.
Back in 2017, Jinder Mahal became the WWE Champion in a big upset over Randy Orton. The victory was designed to appeal to the large TV audience in India, where WWE was trying to make inroads. This didn’t quite work out in America and it was about as successful in India, with Mahal having the rug pulled out from under him after his title reign ended. Mahal spent several months out with a knee injury before returning, but now he’s back, or at least he was for a bit.
In a post on Instagram, Mahal has announced that he had to undergo another knee surgery to repair an issue. There is no timetable given for his return to the ring. Mahal returned to action on the April 27 edition of Monday Night Raw and last wrestled on the May 22 edition of Main Event. Since returning, Mahal had been rumored for a face turn and push rather than his normal heel persona.
He certainly made an impact. Check out some of the things Mahal has done in WWE:
Opinion: I’m not the biggest Mahal fan but I never like seeing someone having to go on the shelf with an injury. Hopefully he can get back in the ring sooner rather than later, as he might be able to make something out of a realigned character. Mahal may not be the most popular wrestler, but he does seem to be working hard and that counts for something in this sport.
