I guess not everyone is a fan. Earlier this week, Becky Lynch announced that she was expecting a baby and would be going away for a long time. Lynch is due in December and that means there is a good chance she will not be around for at least a year, assuming she comes back to wrestling whatsoever. A lot of people were excited by the news, but that wasn’t the case for everyone.
Lynch is one of the biggest stars in WWE at the moment and pretty easily the biggest female star in wrestling history. Last year she main evented WrestleMania 35 and has shown some amazing staying power. She is one of the faces of the company and has shown the ability to be one of the top stars the company has for months on end. That is a lot to walk away from and one prominent name in wrestling is not pleased with the situation.
On the latest episode of his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, Jim Cornette talked about how he was not pleased with Lynch’s announcement. Cornette talked about how Lynch might not be able to have the same success or make the same money in wrestling as she is now and suggested that she have a baby later. He compared the decision to get pregnant to a male wrestler intentionally injuring himself during a major run.
This might not go over well. Check out Cornette’s full comments:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is not going to be well received and I can’t say I agree with Cornette. Lynch and Seth Rollins are both major names in wrestling and there is a good chance they are in solid financial shape. That being said, Lynch is an adult capable of making her own decisions. If she wants to have a child at the moment, that is her decision to be made and it’s not like it is something that is going to destroy her life. Cornette doesn’t come off great in this and while that is pretty traditional, this one is a little worse than usual.
What do you think of Cornette’s comments? What will Lynch be able to do when she gets back? Let us know in the comments below.
